About us

Non-profit Marketing in Sweden

The association was founded in April 2019. Our mission is to help non-profit organizations in the public and non-profit sector to make their operations more efficient with the help of non-profit marketing. We offer free webinars and workshops every other month or on demand for a fee. Since May 2023, we also conduct marketing agency activities aimed at non-profit organizations. We also offer paid services and coaching.

Core Values

INNOVATIVE

We adapt the concept of "non-profit marketing" to a Swedish context. We strive to create a better functioning non-profit sector that can respond to society's current challenges. We argue that "non-profit marketing" is a new industry that differs from "regular" marketing for profit-making companies due to the non-profit nature of the sector. We highlight and underline this difference in all the material we make. We are also aware of our challenges as innovators and that it takes time before the concept is recognized and implemented in Sweden, not least because of prejudices around marketing. We are office-free and apply a 6-hour working day for our staff.

OPEN-MINDED
We base our knowledge on the research that exists in the field of "non-profit marketing", but we also see knowledge as something that is created together in dialogue and by everyone. Therefore, we welcome people who know both a lot and a little about non-profit marketing and interpret knowledge as something that also includes association democracy, board work and collaboration with other sectors.

NON-PROFIT

The profit from the paid services is reinvested in the non-profit part so that we can deliver the training free of charge. Instead of opening the agency in AB form, we decided to keep the entire company as a non-profit association. The association is run voluntarily by our members and employees are paid for the tasks we carry out for customers .The best way to understand civil society is to be a part of it! Our organization is non-partisan and non-religious, rests on democratic foundations and is non-discriminatory. We care about the world we live in, keep up to date with its problems and challenges and do our best to contribute to a well-functioning society for existing and future generations!

The Concept

Why "non-profit marketing"?

  • Methods and tools in marketing and communication need to be adapted to be used by non-profit organizations. Applying them without adaptation can do more harm than good due to the non-profit nature of the sector.

Why exactly "in Sweden"?

  • In Sweden, the so-called "third sector" has its own character and history that differs from the USA, Great Britain and other European countries. Among other things, it is characterized by large differences between the sector's various organizations and unclear boundaries with other sectors. For example, many non-profit grassroots movements that were started both in the 19th century and in the middle of the 20th century then became public organisations.

  • Currently, the sector is the smallest among other European and also Scandinavian countries. The sector is now in its fourth phase and needs to grow in order to answer new and existing social challenges, which the state so far cannot solve and the business community does not want. At the same time, the sector needs to be professionalized and find new solutions to become sustainable when competition increases.

  • Experience shows that it is also not possible to use even proven methods and tools in non-profit marketing from other countries without further adaptation to the Swedish context and traditions.

Our purposes:

  • unite non-profit marketers for knowledge exchange

  • spread knowledge about non-profit marketing as a powerful tool among non-profit organizations

  • educate and develop the skills of non-profit organizations in non-profit marketing

  • implement non-profit marketing in the operations of non-profit organizations

  • drive non-profit marketing development
